Make sure the your system meets our requirements: http://forio.com/hbp-support/

Check your version of Flash, and install Flash if it is not already enabled or current: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html

Clearing the cache/history, closing out of all instances of the browser, then opening up a fresh instance of the browser can often resolve issues. This link explains how to clear history: http://forio.com/hbp-support/how-to-cache.html

The HBR Guides require 2007 or above versions of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Reader 9.

The video player in some products is provided by Kaltura.

To ensure successful functioning, you may need to add the following web addresses to your list of trusted websiteshttp://kaltura.com & http://kaltura.org.

Browser Troubleshooting

Do you have a strong Internet connection?

  • Hard wire connection to the Internet is best
  • If using Wi-Fi, can you get to other websites quickly?
    • How fast are your search results returned from https://www.google.com/?
      • If your search results return slowly, your Internet connection may be slow and causing connection to our website to time out

What URL are you trying to access?

Safari iPad and iPhone  using "Private" Browsing

iPad and iPhone users may report trouble logging into and using HBR.org while operating the Safari browser.

HBR.org takes advantage of a browser's 'Local Storage' which cuts down the number of requests to the server, for a better usability experience. When an iPhone or iPad uses 'Private' browsing mode, local storage is disabled, which makes some of HBR.org's functionality  not work correctly. Users need to turn off private mode to access the site without issues.

HBR.org is no longer compatible with Windows versions of Safari.

Specifically- this issue only occurs on Windows devices  that are using the Safai browser.

This issue does not impact Safari users on a Mac device..

If you use the Safari browser on your Windows device- the workaround is to use another browser.

Trouble Logging In?

Have you logged in before?

Is the screen just flipping and not logging you in?

  • If you are entering email and password at https://hbr.org/sign-in and the screen is just flipping, add HBR.org to your list of trusted websites with your privacy and security software.

What is the username you are using to try to log in?

  • Your username is an email address
  • Although in the past we allowed usernames that were not email addresses, all accounts now have email address as username
  • The email address on your account for contact purposes is the same as your username

Are you getting the 'You have entered an invalid email and password combination. Please try again.' message?

  • Is the caps lock on?
    • The username is not case sensitive, but the password is. If you have caps lock on, unless your password is in all caps, your sign in will fail
  • Click the 'Forgot Password?' link on the sign in screen to have the system send you an email to get logged back into your account.

When was the last time you cleared your history/cleaned your browser?

  • Clearing the cache/history, closing out of all instances of the browser, then opening up a fresh instance of the browser can often resolve issues.
